Hello from GEOSYSTEM Software! Since it's been quite a long time since we last sent out our e-mail newsletter, you might be wondering who we are and why you're getting this e-mail:

GEOSYSTEM Software produces and sells programs for plotting boring logs, for calculating and reporting results from common geotechnical tests, and for storage and reporting of concrete and cement products strength test results. We have been in the software business since 1984.

Occasionally (just several times a year) we'll send out an e-mail note to let our customers know about upcoming software releases, newly posted program patches and interesting technical documents. The newsletter is sent to e-mail addresses we've received from demo and support requests and from our newsletter signup form. (We don't purchase e-mail lists and we do not "scrape" e-mail addresses from web pages.) If you're not interested in our products, please reply to this e-mail with "Remove" in the subject line.

PDA Borehole Logging with PLog and LD4

LD4, the GEOSYSTEM boring log drafting package, now supports Dataforensics' popular PLog PDA logging software. LD4 licensees can now enter their boring logs and monitoring well installation details in the field using Palm-compatible PDAs, return to the office and import the data directly into an LD4 project file.

Introducing CLSuite4

We've recently added a new package to our product line: CLSuite4, the Classification Suite package, features integrated support for grain size distribution and Atterberg limits tests and soil classification calculations via USCS (ASTM D 2487), AASHTO M 145, USDA, Burmister and Australian Standard 1726.

The new program greatly simplifies the soil classification workflow because users no longer need to jump between programs to enter testing data and check classification results: All necessary data entry is done within a single program. Soil classifications are calculated automatically without requiring any user feedback.

CLSuite incorporates all of the new features added to our recent GrainSize program, including direct .PDF report creation, configurable sieve sizes, color curves, probability- logarithmic graphs, and support for sediment testing with Wentworth (Phi) charts and for rip rap testing with expanded chart scales to handle large sizes.

CLSuite expands our prior Atterberg limits support with the addition of natural moisture and liquidity index calculations. Soil classification additions includes support for a USDA textural triangle report as well as a new classification system for Australian Standard AS 1726.

Data Acquisition Support

Did you know that many GEOSYSTEM programs support importing data files created by data acquisition machines? We can supply importers for many common shear and consolidation data acquisition devices, along with several concrete break machines. For a small fee we can also build an importer for your custom data acquisition device.

• New Systems: We've just added preliminary support for importing consolidation spreadsheets created by Humboldt's Minilogger system, and for CBR data files created by Durham Geo Slope's automated load frame.

Recent Notable Program Updates

• GrainSize received a new particle size calculator that can be used to check for the percent of particles finer than a given grain diameter, or the grain diameter corresponding to a given percent finer. Install the update from here, then open a grain size test, select "Window" > "Chart", then "Curve" > "Calculator".
