Hello from GEOSYSTEM Software! Since it's been quite a long time since we last sent out our e-mail newsletter, you might be wondering who we are and why you're getting this e-mail:
GEOSYSTEM Software produces and sells programs for plotting boring logs, for reducing and reporting results from common geotechnical tests, and for storage and reporting of concrete and cement products strength test results. We have been in the software business since 1984.
Occasionally (just several times a year) we'll send out an e-mail note to let our customers know about upcoming software releases, newly posted program patches and interesting technical documents. The newsletter is sent to e-mail addresses we've received from demo and support requests and from our newsletter signup form. (We don't purchase e-mail lists and we do not "scrape" e-mail addresses from web pages.) If you're not interested in our products, please reply to this e-mail with "Remove" in the subject line.
News:
We'll be officially releasing version 4 of our popular grain size distribution test software the second week of April. In the meantime, the new program's web pages are up:
If you can spare the time, please try the demo and let us know what you think. Since the software isn't yet officially released, there's still time to add a requested feature or two.
SHEAR users: Check the program's update page for news on an important program update released last month.
A relatively unnoticed feature crept into LD4 late in 2003: keyboard shortcuts. You can now use a single keystroke to insert the degree, one-half and approximation symbols into boring log descriptions. This page gives details on the new option (make sure to install the latest program release since the new feature was introduced in a web update).
Did you know that many GEOSYSTEM programs support importing data files created by data acquisition machines? We can supply importers for many common shear and consolidation data acquisition devices, along with several concrete break machines. For a small fee we can also build an importer for your custom data acquisition device.
Please see this page for more details.
The new Windows XP Service Pack 2 appears to be shipping with a buggy graphics driver for some hardware -- the bugs are causing problems for the old GRN-SIZE program as well as the Windows LIMITS, CONS and PROCTOR programs. We've developed workarounds for the problem and are looking for a few customers to try out the patches. If you're having trouble running any of these programs under Windows XP (service pack 2 only -- to check, click your "Start" button, select "Run" and type WINVER and press Enter -- the following window will specifically say "Service Pack 2" if it's installed), please let us know: use this form and enter "NEED SP2 PATCH" in the "Your question" box.
