New Import Support for Data Files Created by Humboldt's Licensed Triaxial Test Software

24.March.2009

The GEOSYSTEM SHEAR program now has the capability to import data files created with Humboldt's licensed Triaxial Test package. While this capability won't be used by many clients (most GEOSYSTEM Software clients opt to use Humboldt's free User Defined test module and do their post-processing in the GEOSYSTEM SHEAR program), it will come in handy for new clients who have already been using Humboldt's licensed package.

To add the necessary files, install the latest SHEAR program update from here.

New CBR Update Adds ASTM D 1883-07 Compatibility

27.February.2009

A new update has just been posted for the GEOSYSTEM California Bearing Ratio program (CBR) that adds support for ASTM D 1883-07, the 2007 revision to ASTM'S CBR test specification. Licensees of our Windows CBR program can download the update for free from here.

Back from World of Concrete 2009

9.February.2009

We've just returned from presenting at the World of Concrete in Las Vegas, Nevada. Show attendance seemed to be down considerably, but we did get to meet many of our customers. Here's a picture of company owners Mike Von Gunten and Erik Knowles manning our booth: World of Concrete 2009 Booth Picture

Vista Compatible Installer Released

23.October.2007

After many months of testing and patching we now have a GEOSYSTEM licensed program installer that operates with Windows Vista. GEOSYSTEM licensees will need the new program to install their GEOSYSTEM packages onto a computer running Windows Vista.

The installer does have one drawback: it will not install the old versions of our grain size distribution, Atterberg limits, soil classifications or Construction Quality Control for Cement Products (CQC-CP) programs. These programs haven't been sold in years (they were written for Windows 3.1) and we couldn't devote the time necessary to ensuring that they worked successfully with Vista. Licensees trying to install one of these old versions (which show a 1.0 or 1.1, etc. version number when selecting "Help" > "About this program") will be presented with an error message. If you have one of these old programs, please check our Upgrade Center for information on the costs to upgrade to the latest release, or use the Price Quote Request form to request an upgrade price.

The updated installer is free on CD to GEOSYSTEM licenses who have purchased their software within the last year; users with older CDs can obtain a new copy for $65, or download the new installer for free. In all cases, please use our Replacement CD form to request your replacement.

Hogentogler File Importer for CONS

10.Oct.2007

We've just released a new data acquisition importer for the GEOSYSTEM CONS Swell/consolidation program: The new importer reads data acquisition files created by Hogentogler GeoStar® consolidometers. CONS licensees can obtain the new importer by using our Replacement CD form to request a new CD or downloadable installer.

New CBR Update Released

20.March.2007

We've just released an update to our California Bearing Ratio program that includes the usual round of minor fixes, and adds some new user-requested features, including:

  • A linearity correction reset button
  • Addition of units to the maximum dry density and optimum moisture percentage values on the summary report
  • Support for VTM-008 (2005)
  • Addition of the revision date to the AASHTO T 193 specification

Product Releases

New Proctor (Moisture-Density Test) Program - 29.Oct.2007
We're pleased to announce the release of a new program upgrade and a new software suite. Proctor version 4.0 introduces many new features to our long-lived moisture-density software (first released in 1984), while LabSuite4 combines the new Proctor program with software for grain size distribution and Atterberg limits testing and soil classifications.

Both Proctor and LabSuite4 feature significant new features for moisture-density test reporting, such as new curve plotting options (including options to selectively omit test points from curves and to plot curves that average the distance between each test point, which helps to smooth oddly-shaped curves), updated test specification support (e.g., ASTM D 698-07), color reports (including color logo support) and direct creation of Adobe .PDF files for test reports.

New CLSuite Package - 31.Oct.2005
GEOSYSTEM Software is pleased to release a new Classification Suite package. The new package features integrated support for grain size distribution and Atterberg limits tests and soil classification calculations via USCS (ASTM D 2487), AASHTO M 145, USDA, Burmister and Australian Standard 1726.

The new program greatly simplifies the soil classification workflow because users no longer need to jump between programs to enter testing data and check classification results: All data entry necessary is done within a single program. Soil classifications are calculated automatically without requiring any user feedback.

CLSuite incorporates all of the new features added to our recent GrainSize program, including direct .PDF report creation, configurable sieve sizes, color curves, probability-logarithmic graphs, and support for sediment testing with Wentworth (Phi) charts and for rip rap testing with expanded chart scales to handle large sizes. (This page lists some of the other new grain size distribution features.)

CLSuite expands Atterberg limits support with the addition of natural moisture and liquidity index calculations. Soil classification additions includes support for a USDA textural triangle report, as well as a new classification system for Australian Standard AS 1726.

New Version of GrainSize Released! - 21.Apr.2005
Our grain size distribution software has a new version number and a ton of new features. This release continues our line of grain size programs begun with a small DOS program back in 1984.

The new program incorporates years of user suggestions, including dual splits, direct .PDF report creation, configurable sieve sizes and color curves. The software also expands our support for filter media and activated carbon testing with probability-logarithmic graphs, for sediment testing with Wentworth (Phi) charts and for rip rap testing with expanded chart scales to handle large sizes. (This page lists some of the other new features added to the software.)

Shear for Windows Released -20.Dec.2003
Lead designer Erik Knowles commented "Our new Shear release marks an important milestone as it is the final GEOSYSTEM laboratory test program to be converted from DOS to Windows. The upgrade was especially complicated due to the large number of different testing and calculation options supported by our DOS program, but we're very happy with the final result. We think that our existing DOS SHEAR users will be especially pleased with the new program's support for direct creation of test reports in Adobe Acrobat (.PDF) and XML format."
